Happy Fall 2020 Fashion Friends!
As the leaves start to turn, the smell of pumpkin spice lattes fills the air, and as the mornings get crisp and fresh, we know Fall and more importantly Fall clothes are around the corner. Fall is the favourite time of year for Roxy and I, so we are so excited about this blog celebrating what we love… Fall and clothes! Our blog this September is going to focus on the Fall colours and shopping local and supporting Canadian designers.
We love, love, love the Fall colours! This Fall, we have curated a beautiful collection that reflects our westcoast lifestyle. We are inspired by the majestic island we call home. Casual, comfy, trendy, funky, fun, classic…we have what you are looking for! Rich earth tones have started the season off at the store. Cinnamon, olive, and warm winter whites have launched us into the season and are represented in all the collections. We have fabulous pieces from Tribal, Soya Concept, FDJ, Focus, Sympli, Shannon Passero, Gilmour, Renaur, and many more. Choosing a top or sweater in the warm earth tones will pair perfectly with your favourite pair of jeans. Kick the season off with a warm and cozy top or pant in one of these fabulous Fall colours.
The past few months have brought the importance of shopping and supporting local as the world has a "new normal". At Patryka we appreciate all the community support we have received and believe strongly in supporting and promoting Canadian designers. This month we are highlighting Vancouver's Gilmour and Sympli and Ontario’s Shannon Passero.
Gilmour has grown to be one of the most popular brands in our store. Made and designed in Vancouver, the “Gilmour Girls” have made bamboo trendy and fashionable. Their tunic length hoodie has created a following all on its own! We have the hoodie available in many colours and is perfect for your comfy casual wardrobe. Their wide leg pant is also a new must have for us, as it can be worn casually at home or dress it up for work. Did you know that the owner/designer of Gilmour clothing, Elspeth Cooper went to Brentwood College?! She went onto Ryerson and UBC, before she established Gilmour Clothing in 1995. The Gilmour team strives to provide stylish lifestyle fashions for the modern woman.
Vancouver's Sympli is style, comfort, and funky all in one. They have created a fabulous collection for Fall 2020. The cross hatch and cat's meow patterns have added fun, while the rich brick colour has added warmth. Founded in 2001 by Jan Stimpson, they describe their brand and clothing as, “we are dynamic, we are vivacious, and we are constantly changing. Every piece of Sympli clothing is designed with purpose and crafted with heart. For clothing that moves and compliments not only your shape but also your lifestyle." They believe strongly in giving back to the community and empowering women. For many years Sympli has been a proud supporter of the Looking Glass Foundation, a local non-profit organization whose focus is creating a caring community of support and prevention for those suffering from eating disorders. They describe their involvement with Looking Glass, explaining that "We share the belief that every woman is perfectly whole and valuable when they are purely themselves. Together we hope to make a difference, working towards a future where every woman can look in the mirror and love themselves for everything that they are." At Patryka we have always believed strongly in women loving themselves as they are and can help find the perfect outfit that reflects you and your personality.
Located in Thorold, Ontario, Shannon Passero is a brand and company we love working with and love wearing. This season we have focused on bringing you her comfy and cozy pieces, but she also does fun and funky fabulously. Shannon has an extensive career in fashion and established her own label and retail store in 2013. The Jessica top is a must have for Fall 2020, we have it instock in several colours and we each have at least one in our own wardrobes. This season Shannon has teamed up with Fashion Television's Jeanne Baker for a fun and funky collection. (see featured sweater with denim pocket) Shannon is also committed to supporting women in her community. She describes being, "passionate about encouraging women in business and, in 2013, established the Shannon Passero Women in Business Grant, one annual grant totaling $10,000 that are given to Ontario female business owners." We feel inspired by Shannon’s success and her beliefs of women supporting women in business aligns very strongly with our beliefs at Patryka.
